Vancouver woman viciously attacked by a raccoon - Best racoon defense gun?

You can buy pepper spray for dogs, etc. They are the size of a large magic marker and are legal to pack around.

I came around a bend in a river one fall evening in my boat and there were 5 swimming in single file across the river. I lined one up and smoked him with the lower unit, spun the boat around got another but they continued to swim as of they hadn't been hit. We then stopped, pulled out our shotguns and killed all 5. Nasty little creatures. I kill every one I see if possible.

I booted one about ten years ago...

Last summer we were having issues with a black bear. I took to keeping the garbage can on an upper deck. One night a hear banging around while I was making a late night snack. I go to the sliding glass door with sriracha in hand. Well wouldn't you know it... it's the one who takes with his hand. Masked bugger. I douched him down with the Costco sized bottle of hot sauce. He didn't come back. Ever.

Lots of experience with Coons. Used to have a family that came by the house daily, and another one with only 1 eye that would cuddle up with my two cats. The kids even named the stupid little bastard. ####, one night my wife got up to get a drink and one of 'em was in the kitchen - it came in through the cat door!

Threw many things at them. Shooting them with a 22cal 495fps pellet gun didn't even phase them... The guy downstairs smashed the butt of his pellet gun down onto one and that took it out. It ran a few steps and then just collapsed.

Never did deal with the problem. Moved instead. Would have needed to shoot or trap them to get rid of them... Or get a really big dog.

Experts say, when walking your dogs make an effort not to walk near any bushed areas or areas where wild animals may be hiding

Don't walk your dogs near bushes lol this country isn't a desert we have a few bushes, never new we had this kind of expert amongst us

It is legal to carry pepper spray (dog/animal spray they call it). When it is found, you better have a valid reason for it. Same as carrying a EDC folder, etc.

Enough detailing the thread.

We had one in South Surrey on our cul de sac with greenspace around it. He was BIG and unafraid of humans and rat dogs. He stayed away from our place because of our two German Shepherds.

Raccoons while cute and mischievous looking are actually very cute and very mischievous . They are the urban equivalent to a Monkey Grizzly and should be treated accordingly. A .500 SW mag would be about right unless there is a smaller faster round that will shoot into space . I have shot them with .410 and 20 gauge buckshot with mixed results a well placed .22 is usually more effective. An old Coon hunter once told me "Git as close as ye can laddie and then git 10 yards closer".

I din attack two times by raccoons the first time I was watching him running towards me not really realizing wat was happening
I had a 22lr I wind up kicking him and shot in his general direction a cleen miss
