Not sure what to make of this but today at the range I was getting pierced primers with Norinco .223 boxer ammo and several miss fires [some with no Firing pin marks] with standard Federal primers in handloads,Bought this here on EE in Jan. and never got around to trying it out until today.Sent an e-mail to the previous owner to see if it had a history of this prior. Good luck. Hope you haven't been scammed.

Some lots of Norc .223 has primer issues, but if you're not seeing firing pin marks that sounds like a possible rifle issue. Hope it works out.

IME the Norc .223 runs like crap in most bolt guns, fine in SA.

Not sure what you "bought" on the EE? Another person's hand-loads, your reloads... once fired brass..????

I had a couple issues with Norc 5.56 ammo in my T97, but I blame the rifle, as the XCR-L hasn't had an issue with any of it.

Once you pierce a primer you have to strip the bolt down and scrub the crap out of the now cooked on oil and powder residue. That's where the light strikes are coming from. The good news is field stripping the bolt is effortless. With the bolt out of the gun, and the bolt head pointing away from you twist the shroud clockwise until the bolt falls apart in your hands.

G-96 works wonders too.
I'm thinking it is the ammo and not the gun.
Keep us posted on your finding please.

Bought from someone here on GN's with low round count pretty much NIB but shot.I've been reloading 35 years so it isn't my reloads.Only misfire has ever been with factory. What Dogleg says makes more sense to pin fouling. Was using Norinco to bore sight and get on paper Harold

From Steves Guns pg. 13 . To field strip the bolt: hold the bolt body stationary while rotating the bolt
sleeve in a clockwise direction (asviewed from the rear) approximately 170ºuntil firing pin bolt sleeve assembly
separates from the bolt body.

Withdraw the firing pin bolt sleeve assembly from the bolt body.

NOTE:
Further disassembly is not recommended. If further disassembly is
required see your Wby dealer .

Cleaned and got it put back together. There was a bunch of "tar" in the nose portion of the firing pin hole chamber in the bolt.Judicious cleaning with Sweet's 7.62 and letting it sit for a minute followed by swabbing and G-96 has it all clean again.Toothbrush to the pin and spring with same cleaners. Will now have to test fire with anything but Norinco. Will let you know how it fared.Thanx Harold
