Vanguard 22-250 base and rings

Hi Chris,
looking at your pictures i noticed you have a cheapo set of rings for that scope. Please don't take this an insult and this is just a suggestion....but if you invest a bit into some better quality rings your groups will likely improve. Perhaps some talley lightweights or burris zee rings??

Your scopes connection to your rifle is a critical piece to the accuracy puzzle. Good quality rings a bases helps build confidence in your rig and that leads to confidence in your shooting and hence better groups at the range or game in your freezer.

This I just my opinion. Your vanguard is a good rifle, add a set of good quality rings and bases... it and you deserve them.

Hope I didn't come of as a snob.
Cheers

was out at the lake and didn't see this post until this morning!! absolutely no offence taken!! I want all the advice and pointers I can get!! you are absolutely correct, the rings are just basic run of the mill cheap things. i will do some googling and check out the talley and burris rings and treat the rifle to something decent.!!
i also would love to get a better scope for the rifle but unfortunately the scope will have to wait until more funds become available and also wait until after i get a scope put on my grandpas Remington model 760 game master pump, so i can hopefully get back out hunting deer this year after a 10 year hiatus.

i really appreciate the pointers and help!!

Yup ......... Good quality rings properly installed on Weaver bases have never let me down. The Weaver bases system is simple, reliable, flexible and cost efficient, but good rings are a must.

awesome advice!! thank you very much! i will post an update once i get some better rings!

Oh man have you come to the right place.... if you need any advise on scopening your grandfathers 760.... Supercub is a guru!

His affinity for that particular style of pea shooter is well documented here on CGN.

As for your rings, choose what you like and fits your budget.....but is of good quality

I've had no issues with cheap aluminum Leupold Rifleman weaver rings...$25 or so made in the Philippines.
