I have herd that the tikka t3 stock does no hold up that well in big calibers, I my be getting a weatherby vanguard in 300 win mag and was wondering if the weatherby had the same problem?

Do you actually have any experience with the T-3 in magnum chamberings, or are you just accepting the rumor to be true? Which T-3 stock was the rumor concerning?

The Tikka composite stock is one of the stiffest in the price range many times better than the average rem-savage plastics. There has been a bit of talk around the aluminum recoil lug deforming a bit in the heavier recoiling calibers but that's it.

All of the molded plastic stocks flex a bit, regardless of brand.

This is why some manufacturers install aluminum bedding blocks and longer in their firearms among other reasons.
The average user of todays modern firearm will never (imo) outlive the accuracy and functionality of their firearm.
Of course that statement has some limitations as does the number of rounds down the pipe and claims of the average user.

You will know in very short time just how accurate that Wby. chambered Vanguard is and how much fun it will be to shoot and harvest game with.

The two .257 Wby's I have shot/shoot duplicate the factory target and a little tighter with 100grn bullets and the Leupold VXIII-3-9 and that is good enough for me and that is all that I expect for this combo.

There are others who can and do tailor their ammo and get better results and then there iare the guys who do evven better with a different rifle and chambering all together.

Just remember ;) "nothing shoots flatter, hits harder or is more accurate" than a Weatherby. A key component in that claim is the ballistic performance of Weatherby Magnum ammunition... end of commercial pimping .

Seriously, there is a rush when one busts that cap knowing that the 275 yrd target is going to drop when the crosshairs are placed in the boiler room .

Tight Groups and Good Eating !

I had one in 300wm and currently have one in 300wsm never had a problem with the stock. Both shot great, I will mention I found the LOP to be a bit short for me so I've got a mcmillan on order for the WSM. There is always that option if you want a better stock.

The one I have now is the 300WSM. I had to sacrifice my 300WM for another project a couple years ago and replaced it with the 300WSM this past fall as it was a great deal at the time. When I had the Win Mag I was shooting 180 gr Accubonds over IMR 4350 I didn't do allot of load development for it before I sold it. I've got some 165gr and 180gr TTSX and Accubonds to test in the WSM.

PS I was on the prophet River site this am and noticed they had B&C stocks for the Vanguard. This would give you a more rigid stock than the factory plastic at about half the cost of a mcmillan.
