Vanguard S2 in .308Win -- Any reasons NOT to buy one??

I bought one in .300 Win mag last year and love it. It's really accurate with factory rounds (Winchester Supermax, i know the cheapies), shoots in the .75-1MOA area. Really nice 2 stage trigger, and that bolt is so buttery smooth.

Buy it, love it, buy another.

I went to buy one today and they didn't have one so I'm waiting about a week on order. Got the blued barrel - stainless isn't worth an extra 150 just so I can be lazy.

I'll let you all know what I think when it comes in.

Those who own one: did you follow Weatherby's instructions about break-in procedure? It seems neurotic and excessive.
 
They are really good rifles for the money with hammer forged barrels and bolts. You can also get detachable magazine conversions for the Howa 1500 or Weatherby S2 which are both made by Howa in Japan. One source of both these rifles is Prophet River, a CGN business member. The only point against them is that they are a little heavier than other makes in the same caliber

Not to the letter. Clean, shoot a few, clean, shoot some more, then clean after use. No kittens died, but I'm pretty sure a butterfly had hurt feelings.

I did more for schits&gigglez. But the rifle shoots straight as i can ask it to. Does it help? Depends who you ask. Typically i've never followed a break-in procedure and have never had a problem.
 
Solid gun, made by Howa in Japan...accurate and good trigger. If you later find the stock a bit heavy, Bell & Carlson make the nice and lightweight Medalist stock for the Vanguard.
