Vanguard SUB-MOA Varmint - I'm Perplexed

they were 1.5 inch apart from each other inside a circle of a 4 inch hole

Just out of curiosity what was your come up in MOA and wind drift with those 55 FMJ at that range? I mean you wont have to look it up online if your shooting groups like that it should be a memory now.

I haven't heard too much about these rifles. I have to admit that the Krieger Criterion sure sounds attractive however for the life of me I can't figure out why they went with a 1:12 twist for the 223 rem.

Can anyone set me straight on this?

.223 Rem
RH Twist
22" Barrel
Weight 8 1/4 lbs
42" Over-all length
5+1 capacity
1-12" twist

Sorry no can do

We need to start a Hall of Fame. We have that guy with the Remington Nylon 66 that could practically put em through the same hole at 300 yards, and now this. Worth noting for posterity.

I concur...I mean what's a shooting site without a listing of the biggest tall tales we have all heard. It would be like a fishing site without lying...Truthfully I suddenly feel this site is woefully inadequate for my gun loving needs without such a category.

Hell, I'd love to shoot a 1.5" group at just a 100 yards....or metres with .223 55gr fmj's!
To hell with the 1/2 inch group at 180 yards.
Hey there's a Steel Match in eastern Washington, just outside Colleville on May 15th. Targets go all the way out there, past 1000 yards. Perhaps if you are able to, you can sign up and shoot. There is also the BCRA match in early July. It's only out to 600 metres. Feel free to show us how it's done.

Let it go guys.
I didn't think this thread would take this direction lol
All is well in tinsel town......

Anyhow I know know why this rifle has this twist rate.

I have the exact rifle with a 6.5 X 20 Leupold shoots 1 hole 5 shot groups at 100 meters with the first reload I tried. I have had many guns over the years and this one is the most accurrate to date.

i havethat exact riffle in 223 i shoot 55gr fullmetal jacket i shoot 3 groops at .5 inch at 180 yards and 1.5 at 915 yards . its the most accurate riffle ive ever shot beats remington and savege long distane riffles.

Big deal, I can beat a RIFFLE with my M14 any day of the week :dancingbanana:
