Got out to the range today with the Vanguard and seems to like just about any bullet weight.

My first Vangurrd in 30-06 had a factory target that you could cover with a quarter.
It was not the Sub Moa either, I bought it for $549.00... I shot 165grn corlocks through it as well and got a similar rouping, just a little lower 4 or 5 clicks up and to the right and 3 inches at 100yrds.
I sold it and bought my .257Wby. Similar results there too.
Best bang for my money is all I have to say,
Rob

I bought a Vanguard [non sub-moa] in 300 WSM a couple of years ago. It shot everything under moa. My BIL liked it so much he bought it from me. [after I shot a moose at 365 yards while he was watching.] I have since acquired 2 - 300 Win Mags, one is a Vanguard, the other a Howa 1500 [basically the same rifle. Both are fabulous shooters as well. With the exception of triggers that leave a bit to be desired, these rifles are the "sleepers" of riflery out there, IMHO. Regards, Eagleye.

Yeah, the trigger pull is a tad on the heavy side. Will have to adjust it. With a bit more load tinkering, I am sure she will get down to .75"

The Vanguard is a lot of gun for a very little money. They didn't even have to solder the bolt together, sandwich a recoil lug in and make everything in sight out of plastic to get the price down.
I'm going to build a custom on a welfare Vanguard one of these days, but in the meantime I'm haveing fun with a .300 Weatherby that got treated to a Boyd's stock and Timney trigger.

I was actually wondering if there was a drop in aftermarket trigger available.

Timney, and I believe Rifle Basix but could be wrong on the second one. It is the easiest trigger you'll ever put in, one screw. There's a tiny notch to cut into the stock, that you can do with a jack-knife. You can't see it anyway.

Not all the Weatherby triggers are crap. I went with a friend today to pick out a new stick for his kid. Trigger wasn't terrible out of the box and a couple minutes later its actually quite shootable.
This particular one was stainless, but when you can buy a black on blue for $499 I don't know how they manage to sell the other bargain guns at all.
