Vanguard Trigger

Yes...to a point...they are adjustable for sear engagement and pull weight...however,..on most of them if you adjust the sear engagement to give a crisp, light pull, the safety will not engage. This can be fixed but it's more involved than a simple adjustment by turning screws...
Most of the half dozen or so that I've adjusted went to 3#'s with very little discernable creep...any lower than 3#s and the creep is more noticeable. It's still there at 3#'s, you just don't feel it as much as you would at 2-1/2#'s or lower.

Use your fingernail to remove the pink silicon nipples on both screws. Use an end wrench or small crescent to hold the lock nut while turning the screw. Turn the back screw in until the safety doesn’t engage then back of ~1/4 turn, hold this position with the screw driver and tighten the lock nut. Check the safety. On the front screw, Turn in the front screw until the cocking indicator on the back of the bolt drops when the bolt is closed. Back out 1/4 turn and try the bolt. The bolt will stay cocked at very light trigger pulls but the safety doesn’t work the same. If a light pull desired #### the bolt and set safety then close the bolt. Bounce butt of gun on floor to see if it would misfire. Take off safety try again. Test several times for reliability. Remember to tighten the lock nut for each setting. Now for the lowest setting with normal safety just back out 1/4 turn and fine tune either direction check to see if safety can be placed on before cocking the bolt.
You want the lightest setting with normal safety function. Mine is around 3lbs. Try the bump fire safety tests. If it is good, lock the nuts tight.
Place a drop of clear nail polish or model paint on the screw ends to keep them from backing out of this setting.

i sent mine to dave at jennings outdoor sports he is the weatherby warranty dude. he charged me $65-75 for a trigger job i can't remember. the trigger is sweet now. i beleive he sets the trigger to 2 3/4 pounds. i had asked him if the vanguard triggers are adjustable and he told me they are to a degree, but he said he can take them one step further.

give him a call, he is really nice fellow

The Vanguard has a new trigger now......

Weatherby® Vanguard® Rifles Feature New Trigger

Not resting on their reputation for guaranteed accuracy, Weatherby® Vanguard® rifles now feature factory, "hand-tuned" triggers calibrated to break crisply at an average of 3.15 pounds - as low as 2.5 and not any higher than 3.8 pounds. Additionally, the rifles' sear engagements are set to .008 inch to .014 inch--for perspective, the average piece of paper is .003 inch.

"Serious hunters and shooters know the impact a crisp trigger has on accuracy," said Brad Ruddell, Weatherby's vice president of sales and marketing. "The new triggers contribute to tight groups with each Vanguard."

Vanguards remain the only production rifles to come with a factory-shot target and accuracy guarantee of a 1 ½-inch or better 3-shot group from a cold barrel at 100 yards with premium (non-Weatherby calibers) or Weatherby factory ammunition.

"Weatherby is the only firearm manufacturer to guarantee its rifles' accuracy with a factory-shot target," said Ruddell. "The target is tangible evidence of each Vanguard's accuracy. We take the necessary time to guarantee each rifle's accuracy before the rifles ever leave our doors."

Vanguard's action features a one-piece forged and machined receiver for exceptional strength and structural integrity. The rifles' accuracy-enhancing features also include actions bed to Weatherby's famous Monte Carlo design stocks.

Vanguards are available in sixteen different calibers and 120 caliber/model combinations, including Weatherby's proprietary .257 and .300 magnums. The rifles range in weight from 6 ¾ pounds to 8 ¼ pounds. Available models include Synthetic, Stainless, Youth/Compact, Sporter, Sporter SS, Varmint Special, SUB-MOA Matte and Stainless, SUB-MOA Varmint, Deluxe and custom models.
