Usually attendance at these gunshows tapers off dramatically about noon.

M14 seminar attendees are welcome to show up in the morning to take in the general gun show, stop by my table, get some free one on one advice from me ...
and maybe even buy something off my for sale table?
However,
The M14 seminar session will officially run only from Noon till 2:00 PM.

NOTE: This seminar is an INDEPENDENT event, and is NOT affiliated with VIACA [ Vancouver Island Arms Collectors Association ].
Nor is it affiliated with the West Coast M14 Seminars put on by Thomas/M14Doctor

This seminar will be facilitated by Lazerus2000, and every participant is also expected to contribute to the ongoing dialog, sharing their experience [ or lack thereof ] with the M14 type rifles.

Bring your M14, or if you don’t have a 14 yet, bring yourself, your questions, any M14 tools or parts you do have, and anything M14 related you want to sell or trade. This IS a gunshow …. there will be things to buy/sell/trade.

VIACA show SAFETY rules mandate that:

1.] NO AMMUNITION WHATSOEVER IS ALLOWED AT THE SEMINAR!!!!! Consider the seminar tables as if they were the SAFE ZONE at an IPSC Match.
SO,
NO live rounds, no dummy rounds, nothing at all that even looks like ammunition.

2.] All firearms handling will be done with the muzzle pointed in the designated safe direction.

Seminar costs: $10, to help pay for the table rentals, incidentals, etc.,
Plus the regular VIACA attendance fee to get in the show.

I am sorry,
I did NOT include this information in the original posting but will edit to do so now:

I will be messaging the confirmed attendees and asking them for their e-mail addresses,
as the course material is too large to send as a Gunnutz message.

Starting the mailouts of the 20 page document for the 14 Seminar.
This doc is way too big to go out through a GN PM,
so I will send it as an MS Word attachment to your email address.

If you have not already sent me your Email address, please do so ASAP
and don't forget to
RTFM
see ya all at the seminar,

Many thanks and much appreciation for today's seminar Larry. It was a rare opportunity! I hope you will be able to host that event you spoke about at the Malahat range. Please, endeavor to charge more for your knowledge and skill. I think you were too nice about the $10 charge. I would be happy to pay more if we could keep you on longer!! Thank-you again. I had a FANTASTIC time.

Laz, thanks for taking the time to run the clinic. I realize that time was short but you covered the most important safety (head space, trigger and firing pin safety, bolts) items that made me feel comfortable to go out and wear in my M14 before hitting you up for advice at the next clinic

Laz,
Thanks again, the clinic was great, learned alot, too bad we were short on time. I do hope you look into doing something at the VFG sometime in the future.

LAZ, agree with all the previous postings - you truly did a great job. Can't believe how many things you packed into 2 hours, and how much we all learned. Would appreciate the opportunity to attend another session if a venue can be found, and only if you please charge more. $10 doesn't cover the consumables - never mind your time, tools and experience. Not to mention all the hands-on improvements you did on our rifles (or helped us do) today. Am sure we all feel that way. It was a great example of the best of the community. Thanks again.

OK,
it seems the shorty 2 hr seminar was a success.

So how about a longer seminar,
at the next Victoria 2 day gun show,
Oct 31/Nov 01.

Sunsday, Nov 01, the facilities are open 9:00 AM till 3:00 pm .

7 hours should give us time to go over the basics again in class, for those who are signing up new, and as a refresher for those who found the details a bit overwhelming. That should also give us plenty of time for everyone to do any barrel removals, reindexing, lapping in of GI bolts, scope mounting, and whatever else is required.

After 3:00 PM, it may be possible to find a range to visit, to try out the improvemnts by actually shooting our M14 rifles [ and wouldn't that be a novel concept ].

I'll start trying to organise sopme tables at the next show, and if anyone can assist, organising some range time at one of the nearby Van Isle Ranges.
PS:
BIG thank you to John Pullen, who let us use his headspace gages,
and to Radar,
for trundling in his portable 6" vise.

Count me there. Longer seminar would be be great. Let's circle again on this mid-October - and we can all pitch in on supplies. LAZ, do you know where the Victoria gun show will be held? A further consideration - if we tentatively book some time at VFPGA range for Nov. 1, what would be the optimum time? Would we want the whole range - or "x" number of lanes?

That's the way to go, fellas! Great job for networking and sharing helpful information.

That's why the MBR Forum is the greatest forum on the CGN board! :D
