Gday guys!

This is one for the experienced reloaders...

After talking about the 300wsm, I want to reload for it an will purchase dies for it pretty soon.

My question is I currently use "Varget" for the 35 Whelen... And Id like to use 2208 for the Calibres mentioned above, although in regards to the 300wsm it is suitable for up to 165gr projectiles although the velocities arnt as high as they would be with certain other powders...

Whats your opinion on running a powder like Varget/2208 in the 300wsm and even the 270 for that matter?

North Americans are not real familiar with Australian powder types and numbers. I predict you won't get too many valuable responses. We do know Varget and I really think its way too fast for any reasonable bullet weights for the 300WSM.

Gentlemen, you have a Remington/DuPont powder plant in Canada, and Remington/DuPont setup the powder plant in Mulwala Australia, and has been in partnership with Hodgdons for over 25 years. You Canadians know the numbers but forgot how to speak Australian and where half our powder comes from...............:bangHead:

American English on the left, Australian English on the right

H4227 = AR2205
H4895 = AR2206H
H4198 = AR2207
Varget = AR2208
H4350 = AR2209
H4831 = AR2213
H4831SC = AR2213SC
H1000 = AR2217

The rest of the powders are listed below from Hodgdons website.
http://www.hodgdon.com/msds.html

As a side note the American company Pratt and Whitney set up and made the machinery for the Australian Lithgow Enfield factory. And I think during WWII is when Remington/DuPont setup the powder plant at Mulwala Australia.
