I went to Cabela's yesterday to purchase some powder for my .223. Varget was suggested and I had tested the powder - bullet combo in my gun. Extremely pleased with 69 grain bullets. Anyhow when paying for the powder, the cost had gone from $23.99 to astounding $35.99 for 1# container. Is it the profit margin raising the prices? or the rarity of powder? Guess I will have to shoot more .22 cal.

I love Varget...use it in my .223 & .22-250 all the time. I shudder to think what it is going to cost when my last lb is gone; especially when I have to add on a hazmat charge plus courier shipping to NFLD!

Like ammo, American's have gone ape#### since Obama was elected...they're hoarding everything from factory ammo, to new magazines to all reloading components. Check US prices these days on a lot of stuff....prices are equivalent or higher than Canadian prices on a lot of stuff. Crazy days indeed!

Varget returns to the PEG, despite the cost, this is good news. Although, I did find a more than suitable replacement for my own needs. The shortage kind of forced that upon me.

WT...
Have you shot your .223/69gr.(Win. bullets?)/Varget loads yet?..
I have that combo but never tried it so I was just wondering if you had good luck with it..

Thanks, would you say it could be good for 6.5X55 or 7.63X39?

Not sure on those 2 you mentioned as I do not shoot them.

Varget really shines in the first 3 catridges I mentioned, but can also be used in the others.

If Hodgdon lists a load for those cartridges you listed, then I don;t see why it couldn't be made to work, but there are probably better powders for those particular rounds such as H4350/IMR 4350/RL 17/N550 which are slower burning than the Varget to get the bigger 6.5 bullets rolling along the tube.
