I have used ball powders in .223 because they flow like poop through a goose with consistency - especially when loading high volumes. I would love to give Varget a try, but would like to know if it flows nicely through RCBS powder measures and such. Could someone help me out on this one. I don't want to buy some Varget to find out it is a pain in the backside in powder measures. Thanks in advance.

I use Varget with the Lee and its works very well, almost always within a 1/10 if you keep the powder level topped up. I still do measure on the scale every 10 loads, just for peace of mind.

i have an RCBS powder measure..and with Varget it's USUALLY within +/- .5 grains..so probably ok for what you're doing, high volume..but i always measure every load it's not precise enough for long range shooting.

When I use my measure with varget I always give the case a 1/4 turn before pulling it away from the filler tube. On more than one occasion I have had it bottleneck at the case and spill on to the floor when I pulled the case away.

If you can spare a few dollars, I highly recommend this unit

it makes considerations like meterability a distant memory

That does look like a pretty fancy outfit, but I can't see how it would be as fast as just using a powder measure and checking your charges every few throws. I can imagine that that scale/measure is very accurate though.

I use a Hornady powder measure with Varget. If I set it right on the money for the charge I want, it will throw about 70% right on. The other 30% is usually under by .2 or .3 gr. I weigh every charge.

I find it'll throw a charge in about as much time as it takes to seat the bullet from the previous charge. It's dispensing and weighing while you're seating the bullet, and has the next one ready to go by the time you are

Mine does now that I tweaked the timing on mine :D I used to have to wait before.

I have used it with my Lee, and Redding measures, and now have an RCBS loadmaster. No problem with any of these using Varget

My Lee powder measurer doesn't get along with the powder that comes in bigger "chunks" for lack of a better word like Varget or H4895. It handles H335 and IMR3031 very happily though, because they come in very fine... "chunks".
It's a little irritating for me since I weigh each charge obsessively until they are all exact, but you may not be as crazy as I am.
I really want one of those electronic ones... I'll buy one someday, probably only to find it isn't 100% each time either!

I have a Harrel and two lyman 55's, and out to 500 meters, there is no discernable difference in groups if iIthrow the charges with Varget.
Past that I weigh charges.....
