Mentioned on the range a while back that varget hard to find right now.
Is this like Costco where i see something i like to grab it???
How much should i get???
How much should I be a paying???/
What is availability like??
Should I keep locations to myself to help in hoarding??
just wondering
thanks

powder

There's 8000 grains in a pound of powder. Just divide the load you're using into that and you'll see how long a pound will last you. Use that as a guide. Personally I wouldn't buy more than I'll use in a year or so but I have some friends who buy the 8lb cans and sit on them for years.

Varget seems to appear in clumps here and there. Here today, gone tomorrow. Just like Costco.

P&D have been getting small quantities in periodically, but it goes pretty darn quick. Prices in Edmonton have been running $32-$35 per pound.

If you use it and like it, and plan to continue to use it, buy it when you see it. It won't go bad as long as you store it properly. If you want to really go for broke, look around for an 8 lb container.

I have a hunch that with the increasing demand for ammunition, powder, bullets and other reloading components, as well as reloading equipment Stateside, most powder is going to get harder to find and more expensive over the next 12-18 months. Thank you Mr. Obama.

I have found Varget in particular to be somewhat inconsistent batch to batch. I always try to buy a 1 year supply at a time. In .308 I get about 150 reloads to a pound.

I seen it at Home Hardware in Brandon, MB selling for $41.99/lb. Cant see them selling much at that price. I think if you like shooting you cant go wrong stocking up a little, nothing ever seems to go down in price.

About $26-$27/lb from Higginson Powders.
1lb
4lb
7lb.

I always had good luck with Higginson.
If you buy 21 lbs the shipping is FREE (still have to pay Dangerous Goods $15)
Nice people too.

If 21 lbs sounds too much, ask friends - any powders will do, as long as it's 21 lb or over.

Reloader 15 is also scare... one of the guys at W.S. told me they have 1 x 5lb or 8 lb (forget which) container of Varget a couple of days ago
