I'm looking for someone to go varmint/predator calling with between
Christmas and New Years in the Edmonton area. Reasonably warm
weather permitting of course. I'm a newbie at this so take that into
account.
Seriously though, at one time I used to go out to the Blackfoot Grazing Reserve. That was several years ago, so I do not know if they still allow that but I beleive they are in the phone book.
Also drive out to the county of Leduc. Meet some farmers!
And if you can't get somebody to take you out, just get out there yourself. I've been teaching myself this year -- only gone out twice for about 1/2 an hour each time, (plus a couple times calling while deer hunting) and I've called in two (one at a dead run after about 10 seconds of calling) and I've killed one.
It's not that tough to learn the basics.
Go to varmint Al's to hear what the calls should sound like, set up somewhere near where they should be and where you can see a ways, and let loose.
I usually head out towards Evansberg, and work the river and a few quarters that belong to a friend. Within an hour or so of town, and lots of coyotes. - dan
