Anyone load the 260 with lightweight varmint bullets? How well does it work for you?

I recently picked up a tikka ss varminter in 260 which I plan on using with the 95 grain hornady VMAX. The tikka has a relatively slow 9" twist, so I'm hoping it works well with the shorter bullets. (my other 260 is 7.5" and likes 140 VLD style bullets). There's not much data around though hornady and hodgdon both publish loads with the 95 grainer.

Oddly enough though, the hodgdon data and Hornady data are very different, with Hornady suggesting 3200fps with 4831 and similar slow powders, and hodgdon indicating that benchmark is good for 3400fps. Benchmark and 4831 are nothing alike, so this seems really odd to me.

the varmint bullet for long range in the 6.5mm is the 95 grain Vmax. Everything else falls off the table past 300 yards. I use enough Varget (43.8) to push them to 3315 f/s out of my 23" 1:8 twist barrel. Its pretty accurate and hammers yotes hard, fur friendly it aint.

Vermin action

Well Brad, if its gopher vermin you'll be shooting at, its not all that likely you'll need 300 yard ammo capabilities?
The Sierra manual has a number of 85 grain loads with velocities in excess of 3400 fps.
I'll load Sierra's if I can find them. FS
