Now they might not have to be made specifically for varminting, but is there any .224 dia bullets that are 30 to 35 grains (max) and have a boat tail?
I think most makes in that range are flat base. Why so light?
Alrighty then.
Good luck finding a bullet that would hold together at that velocity...
Good luck finding a bullet that would hold together at that velocity, I bet you'd need a pretty slow twist to keep them together.
22-243 Middlestead or AI can push a 30-35 grain bullet 4900 to 5200 ft/s. Id would be nice to see a boat tail bullet that light so it could have a higher BC, just to be even more ridiculously flatter shooting at that speed.

You all raised very good points. Now I guess that if I got a 22-243 barrel made, I'd find the slowest possible twist to minimize overspin.
This is an odd idea but... What about making a .22 caliber sabot holding a 30gr .17 bullet that could have a higher BC? Rifling twist would have to agree with the .17 caliber bullet.
I though about the middlestead too but Im leaning towards just 22-250 AI because I hate trimming.
What if you would rechamber a 22-250 14 twist barrel ? I would think you would get the 40 gr. VMAX moving pretty quickly .
If the idea is have fast MV to shoot flat why do you want to shoot bullets that have little bc that will probably prove frustrating at long range in the wind.
How far do you want to shoot ?
