Varminting Kiwi Style

nice set up. where in NZ are you? my wife is from the Auckland area next trip home I will be planning a hunt
 
I am in the Taranaki area , on the coast , 1/2 between , New Plymouth & Wanganui , YES goats are a general pest on farm land , and if able to I recover them for the farmers dogs , if they fall down a bluff , then they are pig food .
The goats are 460m away , Spotter is a Zeiss Spotter60 , AI AW 308 & S&B 4-16x50 & BT suppressor , Badger M2008 in 300WM & S&B 5-25x56 , NEA 18inche & M2 scope , Terrapin PLRF05 , & Trimble Nomad PDA running FFS program .
no beer in cooler just Pepsi max .

that is a great area I know right where your at we have fam in palmerston north and spent a good bit of time there. we try to go back every 3 years but has been 4 now so I guess I am due for a trip this time next year. NZ in hole is gods land
 
There is only one AI in the pics , a AW 308 w/can , the other is a Badger M2008 actioned custom build in300WM , similar looking , I have more AIs ,a AWM & AX338 as well , just not in those pics .
But YES I am a big fan of most things AI .
I find they just work as advertised , alot of stuff dosnt .

Oh ok your Badger rifle had me fooled, very nicely built. I also have an AW in .308, love it.
 
Goats as vermin...I'd learn to love Goat Roti if I could just go shoot a few. Hmm, Ground Goat, Goat sausage, and whatever else you could do to make it more palatable. I'm assuming Goat steaks might not be too good as I've never once heard someone exclaim, "Man that Goat steak was fabulous!"
 
What I have found is , that when using a suppressor whilst hunting , is IF you spot a group of animals , is more often you can get off 3-5 shots before they skatter , as at 1st they donot quite seem to recognise they are actually getting shot at , so you end up , being able to shoot the whole group , instead of just the 1st animal , realise that the suppressor cuts out most of the muzzle blast/sound , but it still leaves the bullet flight noise , ie sonic boom as the bullet travels down range ( if you are shooting supersonic ammo ) .
