I found these while randomly searching through 1911forum.com for grip ideas/places for a 1911. some good reviews of them, but input was limited because this is a relativly new grip company. at 45$ shipped i figured i would see for myself if they were as good as they were toted to be. so i became the first in canada to order these.

here is an explanation of the grips, taken straight from the website
"These grips are individually textured, one set at a time, by someone (me) who who truely appreciates the need for a grip that allows the shooter maximum control over the weapon under adverse conditions. These grips are not the prettiest. I leave pretty to grip masters like Esmerelda and Hakan. However, the VCD Grips were developed with input from, and have been tested by, active-duty military personnel, FBI SWAT Team members, members of state and local law enforcement, Gunsite/Thunder Ranch/Trident Concepts/ EAG Graduates and long time IPSC/IDPA competitors who all agree the grips works as intended."

as advertised they are not pretty

but in my opinion they are very attractive, im a big fan of form follows function styling which is exactly what these are.

The grips arrived with some sand paper, and because i orderred the magwell version there was some fitting required. bassically i had to sand off the little bits on the bottom so it was smooth. one part that did require major fitting was the inlet for the plunger tube, i had to carve/sand out a significant amount of material before it would fit on my gun. but after that it fit very well and tight.

i took these out to the range last week, put about 100 rounds of .45 through the gun doing IDPA in the cold. boy do these hold onto your hand, gun never shifted while i was shooting, even 8 rounds in rapid fire. I felt like i could open my hands and the gun would just stick to them. Seeing how good they stuck to my dry hands, i decided to try something different; i soaked my hand in water then fired off a mag as fast as i could aquire the sights again, again the gun did not move in my hands at all while firing, even though my hands were so wet the slide serrations slightly hard to grasp.

All in all, the grips are just as good as they are toted to be, well thought out and well made. VCD is amazing for customer care, lots of emails to me checking up on if the grips had made it, if they fit on ok, exactly what fitting was needed, what i thought of them, if the customer experience of fitting could be impoved at all (the mag well grips are new for him) ect.

i would 100% recomend these grips to anyone looking for a hard use grips that really does work like it says it does.

Those look great! Very industrial! What material are they made from? Are they sticky or abrasive?

they are a proprietary polymer/fiberglass (i believe, actual wording skips my mind at the moment, but it is proprietary)

they are abbrasive but not overly, and slightly sticky. i should make clear, these are not as comforatable as my chocobo grips i had on it before, but they are not uncomfortable and give me a much better grip on my pistol. they are a grip for a hard use pistol, i will do some testing with gloves on soon, but i doubt it will change anything
