VCI Gun Sock Question

Does anyone here have any idea how well these work? Just bought a browning one for my Port Mauser...are they safe to use? Ie: on the wood stock etc.

I use gun socks on all my rifles, they help prevent safe kisses, and are supposed to repel moisture as well.
