Not really sure.
Hey guys, just curious what you guys know about the belgian and french made velo dogs out there.

Any that classify as antique status or are they all no go areas due to lack of proper serials or markings?.

I'd really like to try and get my hands on one preferably in 8mm lebel but other chamberings are open as well.

Look forward to any input.

There hard to date almost all of the ones ive seen have post 1898 markings, few have that pre 1893 oval ELG marking.
If you see one with a tiny lion with its tail in the air that proof started in 1898 so if its got that lion its not antique.
I like them alot but finding any that are for sure antique that you can prove are pre 1898 is very hard.
Im sure theres a few out there tho.
I like there folding triggers and sleek design :)

Yes the Belgian proofmark you want to see is the Oval with ELG inside but NO Crown ontop of the Oval.
It could well be antique even with the crown but you cant prove it as that Crowned oval was used well into the 1900s.

All the ones i have seen that i like have the crown ontop of the oval.

Here's the pre-1893 Liege proof;

There is a slim chance that the post 1893 proofmarked gun can still be antique, but it must be accompanied by makers marks or other proofs that would be established as post 1898. Very tricky to pinpoint to say the least.
