Not sure if this is the correct forum, but it has to do with IPSC and PF out of various pistols.
Would a CZ 75 (with 4.7in barrel) shoot relatively the same FPS as an HK USP (4.25inch barrel) in 9mm?
What if any difference will be noticed if the ammuntion is tested in Alberta and tested in NB. (difference in elevation)??

Factory Winchester 147gr shoots about 990 FPS out of my USP, at the most 1000 fps, and the least around 985fps. Has anyone tested 147gr out of their CZ 75 9mm?

Thanks, I might not have my ammo (CDBX) until that following monday. :( I'll have some factory with me hopefully!?

Hard to say really. The HK is supposed to produce higher velocities due to the polygonal rifling, but theres a lot of other variables. They'd likely be close but a chrono is really the only sure way to tell.

I have been told that I might be around 30fps slower as opposed to a CZ 75, as my barrel is almost .5 inch shorter, but the HK has polygonal rifling....?
Only the chrony will be able to tell...

yeah, plus the tightness of the barrel will make a difference.. For example, the Sig P226 and the NP22 are 'identical' (well, latter is a clone of the former), but they do produce different muzzle velocities with the same ammo.

Well depend when it was tested....edmonton if I recall has some location at 3000' if it was chrono outside in the winter I would expect a decrease in velocity while in the summer I have seen up to 6000' density altitude...how much I don't know....but like Viper7 said come to the match on sunday I have a CED chrono so I can chrono inside in the dark :) we are pretty much at sea level ;)

I know they ammo won't be here yet :)

maybe if someone chrony a few rounds of factory 147gr and compare in the USP and CZ that might give us a base to go by??
I will be there, 99.99% sure.:D

Yes but he has to start somewere....the same is true when I travel to Ont and Quebec or even NB for level 3's.....I tailor my load as the season progress to get the same PF....and all the places get different result from wow that is close to geezz that is a hot load....my chrono and a budy read within 1-2 PF (2 different kind) I load Open at 170-171PF

Mo nice to ear that you will be coming....be ready for a tough match....with IPSC1 :) last match he made like 6 stages with about 9 targets :) and 2 normal one :) :) you will get to see new pistols ;)

Another thing to consider is that not all chronographs are created equal....

haha, yeah, no kidding... we had so much fun with that last year at the Ont provincials (my factory ammo barely made minor!).

I never did understand what happen at the ont prov.....my 9mm Major was a little too close for my taste the only time last year....the weather was nicely warm...but the indoor range seem to be very humid...dripping wet would be more appropriate perhaps.... and pretty much everybody on my squad was in the same boat except one standard shooter was chrono minor....another open shooter was loading at 178pf so it didn't matter....
