Venezuelan Mauser help?

I have/had an identical Mauser. It is CORRECTLY referred to as a "Venzuelan Short Rifle", but it is really an FN model 1930, often referred to as a model 24/30. These are amoung the best built Mausers, ever. Yours looks to be in excellent condition. No, they did not come with a sight hood, as questioned by another nutter. Value is anywhere between $500 and $800, depending on condition.

Answer to the question: is it okay to shoot it? No. Send it to me and I will look after it properly. :p

Seriously, it is a nice old rifle. If reasonable care is taken, shooting it isn't going to hurt it much. After all, that's what they were made for. :)

If I do end up with it it'll definitely get shot. Every rifle I shoot that is capable of shooting gets shot regularly, even the really rare ones. The only one I haven't yet is my M10 Ross. Would be awesome to break the Mauser cherry with this one too

I have one of them, and I would love to get another one.
Beautiful guns not something you run across very often.
If there isn't any slots cut on both sides of the sight base it wasn't designed to have a hood.
That's how you determine if K98s are early or late production. Early guns don't have the slots later ones do.
Its not always 100% accurate but one thing I look for.
