I was think that a vented hand guard on an SKS would look kick ass. It looks awesome on a svt-40. What do the rest of ya think? Get it or save my cash for the strippers?

I own one but have never installed it.
It requires modification to the upper hand guard (the removal of a pin that I haven found doesn't want to be removed). Some guys have zero trouble. I did - and haven't installed mine.

I think they look better stock, but if you have to replace one, there are only so many options available. And actually, as cool as it looks on and SVT40, its only the gas piston thats vented, not the hand guard, its wood as similar to an SKS

I like the looks of them, might do it to my Type 56 but wouldn't do it to my Russians unless I had a spare gas tube I could mod and swap out. That's just me, though.

Hical.ca sells the vented hand guard, but you have too install it. Pretty easy having a Drexel to due some light pin grinding helps alot.

Saw a couple of pics of one, WHY NOT !! People are modding the SKS all the time and each gun is like building a hotrod, there are no rules ! Build it the way you want !

Or you can buy it from here for $16 and no taxes. Plus it comes with a shell deflector if down the road you feel like scoping your rig. Also this does aid in cooling down the rifle quicker.
