Ventilation- new idea?

Now sure if an old idea but I was looking for some ventilation in the gun room specifically while tumble cases and pulling them out when done. I am sure the answer is to wet tumble or pour outside into a 5 gallon pail. But wanting to do something without that I found the Shop-Vac A235 air filter.

Currently got it just on the bench. Sucks that loose powder/lead right into the filters instead of the air. Golf ball through a garden hose at it were!

Pretty damn big. Found new on FBMP for $50!

Hmm. Did think about that actually. have external vet but don’t want that blowing on neighbours. Perhaps back to outside then. I read to put torn up dryer sheet in material to catch. Will read up a bit more

I am ultrasonic and tumble.

You should NOT be dry tumbling in your home. Do it outside or in a non-attached garage or shed. Dry tumbling produces a cloud of very fine lead particulate around the machine.

Hope you realize that the filter isn’t made for collecting lead particles and the exhaust just blows them around spreading them even farther from the source. You need an external vent to the outside.
Exactly this. A shop vac will greatly exacerbate the problem of dry tumbling in your home.

What you don't know can in fact kill you. 🤷‍♂️

Another minor point, I was tumbling Hornady ELD MATCH cases. Still lead from primer (think that might be the most exposing aspect) of course but not from bullet exposure in case.

I appreciate the feedback. Maybe swap to wet is better.

Cleaning brass is a lead exposure risk, I think the risk is small but not zero. The hazard would be from airborne dust so: wear a respirator! When you are sifting.
Wash down your area periodically with TSP instead of vacuuming. You can buy cheap lead test kits anywhere including Amazon. Ask your doctor to add lead blood test to your annual checkup.

Wash your hands

Wear a respirator

Wash your clothes after reloading before hugging your kids

Unless you shoot 4 million rounds a year indoors, while bathing in used tumbler media then not washing your hands before eating chicken wings, it’s not that big of a deal. Don’t tumble in the house, pour out media outside if you want, and wash your hands after.

Just wash your brass first? I usually sonic clean mine, size, trim, then tumble... If there is lead left... it can't be of any significance.

Thx all. Great ideas. I do ultrasonic first. I put dryer sheet in as well. I will throw existing media out and use fresh though as I did put some in first. Will use it outside but also bought a wet tumbler on Black Friday sale.

Side note: loaded my first two rounds (no primer/powder, just setting dies) last night in new Lee turret press!

Ventilation/filtration is never a bad idea. Just like wearing cloves or a mask. Look at your fingers after a reloading session and man they are dirty! But I don’t but I might actually start!

Primer compound is lead styphnate

Tumbling brass is now a deadly health risk? What if one day you had to walk by a running automobile...or, heaven forbid, fire a rifle? My word.....
Symptoms of lead poisoning may include abdominal pain, constipation, headaches, irritability, memory problems, infertility, numbness and tingling in the hands and feet. Lead poisoning causes almost 10% of intellectual disability of otherwise unknown cause and can result in behavioral problems

Govern yourself accordingly 🤷‍♂️

On what basis do you make this statement? Because you want it to be true?
