verifier certificate on ar15 barrel install? ?

I just called the cfc to have the barrel length on my registration changed from frame/reciever only to the length of the barrel that I have installed. And they told me that I have to take it to a gunsmith to have it verified? And fax in the paperwork to them? This is my second build that I have done. with the first all I had to do was call in and give them the barrel length and they sent me out a new registration cert. with the proper barrel lenght. Has anyone else had this issue?
 
I just asked to talk to a tech. she has now told me to just leave it as frame /reciever only because the barrel is an accessory and I will be using different uppers on the lower at times.

Also if RCMP confiscate the AR you only are required to hand the stripped lower in. If you register the entire rifle the completed gun is lost.
 
All my frds with AR only register them as lower only. Unless you bought a complete gun.

I have 8 or 9 AR and they are all frames only. I shoot once a month and take it apart after range trip for cleaning.

This ^^^
The upper is just parts as far as they're concerned and you have 30 days to tell them if you switch it so just use it and swap to whatever other upper you have whenever you want and if they ever ask (which they won't) you just put that upper on yesterday.
I have 3 lowers and 4 uppers, I don't feel it's any of their business which upper is on which lower at any time and it's also none of their business if I have 1 or 20 uppers. I have my lowers registered and stored correctly and I'm not about to waste my time or theirs letting them know when I change something trivial like the barrel on a restricted firearm that remains restricted after the change.

So the answer to your question is no, I have never had that problem because I don't tell them what I do unless I'm legally required to do so and there is no way around it.

That whole office is so contradictory...... Think I`m going to start recording my phone calls with the CFC, wonder if there is any recording apps for the iphone.
 
I'm just going to leave it like it is as frame reciever only. Maybe get a few others changed to that aswell if possible because I switch uppers and lowers.
