So I was wondering if anyone knows, is the Remington Versa Max Competition Tactical shotgun available for purchase anywhere?

They have nice pictures of it on the Remington website, and there are several reviews online, but I can't seem to find anyone that has any for sale. Can't even find any US websites listing it for sale. Is it just not yet released for sale to the general public? Do only the reviewers have early access to them, so they can write their reviews?

I would be most certainly interested in getting one (even importing one from the US) if I could find even a single business selling them. I realize that the mag tube would need to be pinned for Canada, but that doesn't bother me. Maybe there isn't an FRT assigned to it yet?

PS - I'm talking about this shotgun, not the "regular" versa max tactical, which seems available at many dealers.

Also, I know it would be conceivably cheaper to buy a "regular" versa max, and have it converted to one like this (welded lifter, wider loading port, larger bolt handle/release button, shortened barrel) but I would rather buy one that's ready to go right off the bat, rather than wait for a gunsmith to do the work. Of course, if they are just clearly not available in that model, I would consider going this route....

Well, the one on the Freedom Ventures site looks like a standard Versa Max model, without the modified lifter, extended bolt release/handle and longer barrel...
As I said before, this would require some degree of work to get into a configuration similar to the stock "competition tactical" model.

That might be an option, if the off-the-shelf one isn't available anywhere, but it would not be my first choice.
That's why I was asking if anyone knew anything about the availability of that specific model.

The extended magazine tube, while perhaps not as practical a feature up here in Canada, would not stop me from purchasing it were it available.
It's the other features, which are inconvenient to add afterwards, which make up for the need to pin the extended mag tube.
In my view, it's easier to pin the mag, and have all the other stuff already done, rather than buy one that doesn't need a pinned mag, but that requires possibly months at a gunsmith to get those features added.

I realize not everyone thinks this way, of course, but I presume that's why manufacturers make different models to begin with - so that we can get the configuration we want, without always resorting to custom work.

Cheers,

What would be the point of having such a ridiculously long magazine tube, that just needs to be pinned anyway?

Freedom Ventures is currently selling a Canadian Version of the Versamax 3-gun model. It closely adheres to Canadian laws.

well there nice to have when dumping the gun in a dump box/dumper....keeps your muzzle/chokes safe and any extra weight keeps muzzle flip down too

mine rips( plain Jane sportsman)

Honestly, based on my experience with Casey at TacOrd, I think you could have your gun up and running in no time.

Get a sportsman, and send it to him. He welds lifters, and has the extensions instock. Get the loading port bevelled out, and you're done.

You'll have it back loooooong before any competitions make it into the country. And probably end up spending about $700 less....

You can get a bunch of things done, but, I'm running a bone stock sportsman with the 22" barrel and casey's extension, and, I'm good to go.
