I am looking at upgrading from my supernova to a semi auto this up coming season. I am down to two guns now. Beretta A400 and the versa max pro edition. I have shot an A400 a little bit and it is a nice shooter, the pro edition seems to have fixed up the minor dislikes of the versa max. With the versa max I am saving about 3-400 bucks which at this amount is only a small consideration not a deciding factor. This would be a dedicated waterfowl gun doing everything from duck and goose in layout blinds to brant hunting in sal####er. I hunt hard with my guns but do clean them frequently and look after them. My one hunting buddy had his A400 jam on 3.5" shells this year so that has me a little concerned. Who has the waterfowl pro edition and how do you like it?

I have looked thru a lot of that post, not a lot about the new waterfowl pro edition. From what I can gather it has a larger bolt handle and release button, larger opening to feed the mag.

I was recently faced with the same decision. just like yourself I hunt hard and i hunt often, however I like to clean my gun as often as possible so that had a huge impact on my decision. So after seeing how simple it was to clean the versa max my choice was easy. My wife ended up buying me the sportsman model as a suprise wedding present, At first I was a tad bit dissapointed because i had my heart set on the waterfowl pro, but now im quite impressed with it. So far im about 1000 rounds deep, all of which were 3" bb waterfowl loads its been completly submerged and frozen solid and not once did i have a malfunction. However I still liked the idea of having an upgraded bolt handle and mag release and the larger mag well opening and longer lifter. So to remedy this i took My sportsman over to tactical ordinance to have casey add all these upgrades plus a few extras. I guess what I'm trying to say is that if you do decide to go with the versa max waterfowl pro you wont be dissapointed.

My buddy and I each have one. It's heavier than the Maxus we both own.

We use them for geese and duck. Recoil is well managed.

Really seems to be a tough durable gun.

I'd buy one again.

just bought it from wolverine supplies, got it friday, shot it a few times and cycled all sized shells well! the enlarged feeding port is a plus! and i was coming from a pump action 870! i have although not tried any other semi's recently! but so far so good! was well worth the price! paid just about 1600$

Keep me posted on how it is working for you. Post a pic if you can.

I'd be interested in seeing how you like your Versa max as well Ronsse610. I've been leaning towards the Waterfowl pro after reading the thread on shotgun world because it seems to be the upgraded "trouble free" version:) Truth be told I'd prefer the black synthetic but I do like the upgraded bolt handle, lifter, and larger mag opening.

Theres gotta be more people running or at least having tried these guns on CGN, no?!?!

Bring up again for more feedback. Starting to lean more towards the versamax now as many shops around here are showing the a400 at around $2200. I really only want the waterfowl pro in a versamax. I have seen a couple a400 on the EE go for a decent price so will be watching there too.

Check out the A300 extrema shoots 3.5s and is only 1100
