Sooo...

I've been eying one of the Versamax Sportsmen Turkey models, with the 22" barrel conveniently marked in 3.5".

This seems to be THE gun to have for the shooting sports, as, all that's needed is a magazine tube extension to 5.x rounds of 3.5, and you're good to go, unlike the Versamax tactical that was marked as a 3" gun.

Anyone else been thinking along these routes? It seems as though they've just finally hit the supply chain up here, as I noticed Epps finally has them listed for a touch over $1000....

Thoughts?

I can't remember if folks said these could be carrier loaded or not either...

You pick one up? My Benelli runs and runs but that 3.5" size is good for rounds and ease of loading on the Versamax.

I owned a Versamax for a few hours when they were just starting to get to Canada. Although it did handle the 3.5's very nicely it was falling apart within two boxes. The bolt carrier would jam about half way when loading, the centre bead fell out, and it was shooting about 8 inches low. Took me a while to figure that part out but when I patterned it at 25 it was time to take it back for a refund. Purchased a Benelli M2 and have not looked back. Buy once...cry once. The versamax will probably let you down.

Hmm well thats too bad JRodko you didnt have good experience the the Versamax. Looks like a great design - a total ripoff of the Benelli with a gas system.

Looking for a 3.5" shotgun for 3 gun. Anybody try a Vinci?

Funny statement since the bolt system in the Benelli is a total rip off of the AR15 without a gas system, so much for Benelli innovation.

You think the rotating bolt is original to the AR?

You can drop the trigger group from a Benelli into the Versamax and fire away. Take a tricked out Benelli for 3gun and thats what Remington went for.

Uh... I'm pretty certain the Vinci is 3" at best. I mean, that's fine and all but its not chambered for 3.5"
Gotta go to an SBE 2 or something for that.

You could also say the same about the AR15, since Eugene Stoner copied the bolt design from the 1941 Johnson automatic rifle which was designed by Melvin Johnson, also the Benelli bolt design is not the same as the multi lug bolt as used with the AR15 and has nothing in common with it, other than the fact they are both rotary locking bolts!
