Versapod Bipods?

I run versapods on many of my personal rifles from 223 to 62lb 50BMGs.
Have sold hundreds of them , no problems, the Harris bipods are lighter, but in my opinion not as versatile, or as structural. Thank God there are different makers of bipods so we can all have the 1 we like best

Thanks guys, I've been considering it for a while. I guess the fact that i want a quick detach for my AR-15 makes versapod look really good.

I was looking for maybe mounting a harris bipod to a rail that clips onto lug mount. That way i could put a light on if i wanted, still switch the bipod to another rifle with a rail. I want quick detach though. TDI makes a rail like I want but it doesn't look quick detach. http://www.tdi-arms.com/store.php?pid=229

Anyone know of a quick detach rail for AR-15 bayonet lug?

Versapod

Well made and versatile: as stated, a copy of the Parker Hale. I find them a little wobbly, easy to cant the weapon left or right and will move fore and aft as well, which I guess is an advantage if you are on really uneven ground. For shooting from a relatively flat surface or bench I prefer the Harris Bipods.

I run both harris and versa pod, for me versa pod has become my favorite. It is easy to use, It tracks beautifuly and is very easy to make minor adjustments in cant, tilt and pan with no felt resistance and holds a locked on point of aim very well. It also has a wide field of motion. I have come to love the versa pod.

Harris makes a great bipod also so its going to be one of those things that you will have to try on your rifle and find what suits your personal needs best.

I had a older versa pod and I diddn't like it that much(was easy to knock off target becuase the lack of a cant lock), but looking at the military version they have a screw to make it lock the cant... I'm looking at picking up one with that feature for my AR15.

fro me it depends on the rifle, i've got one on my ar and on my kid's 10/22 both work fine. conversly both my 30-06 hunting rifle and the wife's m14 have harris bipods which seem to work better for those applications

Another vote for the versa-pod. I have a couple of them and like them better than the harris I have. Easier to track with and overall more versitile than the harris.

Not trying to get into the middle of a good fight about what is better what is worse which is stronger and which serves what pupose, Im just going to speak on personal experiance. I have run nothing but Harris on my rifles for years and have just gotten my first versa pod. "For ME" I love the versa pod as I have mentioned before for those reasons, as far as strenght my rifle weighs in around the 17lbs mark that the pod is supporting and I have used it in the field and on the range with excellent results. I dont find it to be loose at all and actually to track in what I believe to be better than the harris. I find the harris to be stiff. in cant and tracking, but that is just me. I will say again I think they are both excellent products and will probably come down to a personal choice as to which one suits who depending on thier shooting styles, and prefrences. They are both excellent products and by choice I vote versa pod, I have had no hitches with mine and would have no problem putting one on any rifle I have or will have. But thats just me. Try them both buy which ever one suits your style of shooting.....they both have a different feel, and I believe they are both STRONG ENOUGH to support any firearm you stick it on short of artillery.:)

Just an opinion here.

Ooohhhh, Drama!!!! In the rather close-knit fraternity of precision rifle shooters, no less!! I would be utterly enthralled if I didn't have a family, a job, and other interests - but hey, that's just me. I usually have other things to do than follow a text-based soap-opera. It just happens to be a slow night..... ;)

Really, you guys ought to the take the retailer-based "back and forth" to the PM world. Most of us here just want to hear the objective pros and cons of the various bipods offered on the current firearms market. We can make up our own minds based on intended use, acceptable performance in that role (which only we know), and price-point. There is a HUGE difference between the specific needs of the weekend benchrest shooter and a military/para-military precision marksman or sniper. Well, Duhhh!

Sorry if I am out of my "lane", but this thread has quickly devolved from one objectively discussing the relative merits and disadvantages of a certain brand of (admitted Chinese knock-off) bipod, to a personal mud-slinging contest.

Can we get back on-track? I have Harris bipods on my hunting rifles. They are light-weight, seemingly durable (never let me down), but are also bulky and chock-full of springs and nooks/crannies that are simply dust/rust magnets in an operational environment. I have a Versa-Pod P-H clone on my Rem 700 PSS "range-queen" rifle that has served me extremely well thus far. But then again, I am not "doing the business" with that particular rifle so long-term durability in the face of typical field abuse is not an issue. But for my needs recreationally? It works just fine. Would I triple the investment for a P-H bipod on a rifle that will never see more than civvie range work? Not frigging likely. And that is where the Versa-Pod knock-offs come into their own. Not everyone needs (or wants) a top-of-the-line PH bipod for casual range-work when the 1/4-priced Chinese alloy clone will do the trick and then some.

Just another perspective based on the understanding that we're not all "sniper operators".....nor do we portray them on TV or in the real world......

Needs, budgets, and desires vary. Get over it.

Well put Mark! My apologies to the group in entertaining Rick's senseless and childish banter. In general, I would say your outlook on the bipod equipment is very accurate. Harris bipods have served eveyone I know well with no significant issues. Sure I hate the external springs and they are noisey but the bipod works well. Are they perfect, no. Now I have seen a few failures with the spin off Shooters Ridge Bipods but then again, they not as expensive but they also have their place in this discussion. Not everyone can afford a Harris and the Shooters Ridge Products fit the modest budgets.

Savage Steel Versapods are FAR less money than Parkers. I sell the steel Versapod models for $170.00 last Parker I saw was over $300.00 US and that was a few years back when Brownells still had them
