Versatile / available 44 Mag Powder?

H110 has a min load of 23gr. Does loading a charge lower than 23gr, for example 20-22 advisable? The assumption is using a large pistol primer (CCI), and 240gr campro projectile.

20-22 grains of H110 or W296 should be fine with a 240 grain bullet. My heavy load is 22 grains with the Cam-Pro bullet: still pretty heavy, but the recoil doesn't sting as much as a maximum load.

You might not want to go below 20 grains, as you may run the risk of getting a bullet stuck in the barrel.

Are you using magnum primer for your 44magnum reloads?

Using another cal 357 magnum, I am able to use titegroup using s&b SPP, non magnum. It goes bang and accuracy is decent using my GP100 between 8-12 meters.

I settled on WW296. It meters $licker than owl $hit.
A number of the other silhouette shooters used H110.
2400 was hard to come by but there was a source for 296 and WW748.
Set the measure at 24.0 and could load for 222 Rem and the 44 Mag.

I am not using magnum primers; I just use whatever large pistol primers I can get for a good price. I am currently using Sellier & Bellot primers. Dominion primers are also good.

Resurrecting a mildly old thread

I was researching on 44 mag reloading and which powder to use. Reloading with 240gr CamPro projectiles, with Titegroup, I have a very narrow band from 9 - 10gr.

I looked further into other powders and came across HS-6 which has a wider band ranging 12 to 15.1gr.

Any one reloaded with HS-6? Also considering this as it is on sale at Cabelas for $35.99 for 1lb containers.

I reload warm .357 magnum and .38 specials with HS-6 and have favourable results. I use H110 for hot/full house magnum loads. I like HS-6 due to its versitility. 9mm to .44 mag to 12 gauge.
