Vertically split rings

I have ONE set of Talley's and I dislike them to no end!

There's NO WAY to keep the crosshairs level as you tighten up the rings when you mount the scope.

Totally NOT a fan of vertically split rings!

I love vertically split rings, warne premier series, factory ruger, talley - love them. Some can be tricky to mount, but I don't typically change scopes very often so spending an extra 10min doesn't both me.

It's all about personal preference for me - if you don't like them, dump them.

I don't own any vertically split rings but I would think a leveling wedge would be perfect for them.

Difficulty levelling the crosshair, with any sort of ring, is a reflection of the capability of the installer; nothing else.

I haven't had any more difficulty installing vertical split rings over side slit. In fact have found that the vertical ones are sometimes easier. To each their own.

I've only mounted one scope with vertical rings. I'd heard nothing but horror stories and was prepared for the worst. The installation was uneventful.

I've only ever done one set but it was a set of Warne Maxima medium rings for a CZ 527. Everything went pretty smooth.

I've got a few vertical split rings and while I don't have any trouble getting them level, they seem to make unnecessary extra work. They look kinda cool though.

These days my favorite rings are the ATRS, but they only come in a couple of variations.

I guess I must be a little better or have more patience when mounting them than some of you guys. I find them no harder to set up than the rest. Same goes for the weaver detachables so many whine about. Never had an issue levelling crosshairs with those either.

I agree, but for some the struggle is real.

I agree I have had both and find they equally easy to install.

I don’t use them mostly for aesthetic reasons but I found the Warne’s irritating to install and ridiculously heavy for what they were.
