Very affordable Swedish M-94 carbines

Everything has skyrocketed in the last 5 years, even items that haven't been imported in 20 + years.

I bought an AG42 for $225 in 2011. It's not like they were on dealers shelves then and supply has dried up now. They haven't been imported in decades, so supply has always been from the secondary market. Now they are $600-$800.

I guess the Russian imports drying up are fueling an increase in all milsurps in the last few years.

I wouldn't even argue it is that. Simply more people have interest in owning milsurps than ever before. When most of it came on the market in the 40s-70s, it was mostly the old vets buying them, and they didn't care about them as military guns rather hunting guns. Then 80s-90s, it was those vets kids, where some had more respect for them as military guns, but for the most part they were just seen as cheap junk. Now the kids of those people are buying and milsurps are seen as very interesting to many, or a bargain in terms of what you get for the price (think K31s, M39s, No. 4 Mk. 1s, M1917s, etc.).

It is interesting the phenomena that once something is perceived to have value people don't want to sell it. One guy at my range was asking what the current value on a M1 Garand was (several years ago), and I told him 1000$. He was only wondering if it was worth the 300$ he paid for it. After learning it was 1000$, he decided he didn't want to sell it anymore, even though he was willing to when he perceived it as a 300$ gun.

anyway.....

This is the original full page ad from Guns and Ammo, October 1960. The Swedish M94 is the headline, but this is interesting too...check out the tiny little ad at the bottom of the page...for Lee-Enfield sniper rifles...$49.65

I remember the 6.5 carbine for sale at my local hardware store for $39.

At that time I earned about $50 a week. So it was not a "cheap" rifle.

Today I am paid $350 an hour, so the rifle is a lot cheaper today. That said, I have not seen one on EE for a long time.

I wish those old magazine ads and catalogues were printed in disappearing ink. I saw an add the other day for LE#4T for $89. That is very painful to see.

The OP has one on the EE right now, but it's for trade, no selling price.

And now in 2017, in North Dakota this one (which may or may not be all-matching) has a "Buy It Now" asking price of roughly $2000. (Can) plus shipping.

seems a bit much...

...but then again, the owner of Milarm in Edmonton told me last Easter that he could sell all the Lee-Enfields he could find for $1000 apiece and that, "who (in the past) would have ever believed it?" These days, with the rapid escalation of prices, many can no longer afford to play the milsurp game.

No longer...I sold it...for more than $29.95 and less than $2000.

For myself, I prefer the more accurate full length 96 rifle. The 94 always seemed to me to be particularly heavy and awkward or maybe just poorly-balanced for a short barrel carbine.
