Very Beatup Win 1894 SRC project/resurection. All Finshed-Pg 5

The barrel is okay. The rifling is a little worn but I think most of it is copper fouling. As soon as its done im gonna take it out and fire 5-10 rounds through it as fast as I can and see what it looks like after. My other rifles cleaned up nicely doing that.

x2 on loving this thread. I'm working on a 1908 production model 1893 Marlin. Shattered stock and forend, missing ejector, miss-matched screws, barrel that totally unscrewed! No major welding like yours though!! Never had to deal with a wobbly barrel. In the end I carefully peened the flange where the barrel meets receiver to get some spacing back since the front sight was way off index when tightened. Then I reefed her into position and tack-welded where it had been staked.....solid!!! Can't wait to see yours done. Great stuff!

Its coming along nicely by the look of it. I had one once so rusted that I had to draw file the receiver, it ended up being a beautiful rifle when I was done.

Hey guys. Finally got the bluing done. I still have a couple parts to blast but was able to get everything dont for the action. Here is a couple pics of it in the white.

And here it is as of tonight. The rest of the parts are going to be blasted and blued tommorow. Then I will finish up the wood. You can barely tell its the same gun now.

Looks purty, you know, I've got one stainless lever loop (between a factory and large loop) that hasn't been called for, and a good original loop off a post 64 I'd be willing to part with to finish that beauty off.

You have done a wonderful thing for a tired and abused 1894, I'm looking forward to seeing it finished!

Thanks for all the comments guys. Im glad everyone is enjoying it.

Just a little update tonight. I decided to tackle the butt. From the previous "repair" the stock was completly wrong. I had to remove over a 1/4 inch from the bottom tang to allow for clearance and to the rifle woould work properly. Probably should have done this before the bluing but ohwell. Here is some pics of how much was removed. When I started that was flush.

Started some filing.

My weapons of choice.

Everything shaved back down.

Checking for fitment.

Then everything sanded down to 150. This is as far as I got tonight. This took me alot longer than I thought it would. Anyways there is always tommorow. Its not the best but its pretty close.

This thread has been the most enjoyable one in a long while for me. Can I send you my 1987 Ram Charger next? :)

Sure, but I think it would be pretty hard to jam it in the sandblaster.:p

What kind of blueing are you using?

Its called Blackfast 181 bluing solution. I use it for alot of my projects.

Thank you for the offer. That would look pretty nice on this old rifle but I am trying to see how much I can keep the cost down. I look at this rifle as a cheap rebuild.
