Very Beatup Win 1894 SRC project/resurection. All Finshed-Pg 5

Hey guys,
So havent been able to get much done lately. Spent lastnight changing a fuel pump. Tonight I decided to get back at it. The stock I finished sanding, brought it to about 400 grit.
I then mixed 3 stains to get the darkes colour out of the wood. The stock is very dense hardwood and doesnt take stain very well. My darkest stain would barely change anyting. I did some tests and mixed a couple togeher to come up with this.

I then fitted the buttstock for the final time.

I am now working on finishing on the forend. The wood was so saturated in oil and underneath the finish is pretty much rotted. I am going to salvage it the most I can but im not sure how it will turnout. Worst case senario, ill make a new one. Here is the old forend.

There was an old 30wcf at the Penticton gun show, not much better than this but they wanted $500
I would really like a project like your doing, maybe the next show will have one

Hey guys,
So I got her all finished up tonight. I did the best to salvage the forend, turned out okay. I think it adds a little "character". I had to make a new font sight for it aswell. I found some pics on the net of a original one and made it off of that. I will have to adjust it when firing but looks pretty good. Now its time to hit the range and see how she shoots. Looking this good it should be around for another 100 years. Thanks for following guys, im glad you like it. If I come across another one ill make sure to post up some pics.
