I'm curious to know where some of these black guns and scopes come from that guys claim are the only one in Canada or 1 in 4? Are these ex military guys or how do they get such rare stuff?

Cheers!!

Seems some come from movie supply companies, some are random imports from the US or overseas, rarely they are police sell-offs. Some are just rare because the configuration is rare. For example, there are a few Swiss Arms rifles in odd configurations (Black Special 14" flattop carbines) and some that were rare are rare no longer (flattop CQBs used to be unobtanium and are now more common as more were recently imported).

Yeah some of this stuff might have been brought in for trials (like the NEA rifle in the Black Guns exchange with a rare C-More sight) and then resold to the public.

Also, some items may have been imported illegally. There are more than a few stories of warranty claims gone awry when it is discovered that said optic or accessory was not to leave the USA.

They are imported. I have a Schmidt and bender spotting scope, likely the only one in Canada as only 50 were made as far as I know. They are mostly in europe with a few in the U.S. Like a previous poster mentioned you can import anything you like as long as there is a legal route to do so

S&B Spotter hey?, betting that was over 2K !!!! :D

Why's that?
we had an ACOG group buy go south on arfcom (organizer/ dealer's fault).
We were talking over $32K in scopes and I sent e-mails to every e-mail address I could find for trijicon including a couple not available to the public and received not one response.
One of the Avila's called them and the reply he received was "we are checking with our lawyers"!
Lawyers? All we wanted was an ETA for the outstanding scopes.
If that is the kind of customer service they give for a 32 thousand dollar sale..I can just imagine the service you will get for a $600 scope.
ETA..here is 32 pages of train wreck if you are bored..

ETA II I had to go back and count the # of people that ordered a scope to find out the ball park dollar amount.

Many years back there was a full auto for sale. An M 16 wiyh prop of US Govt. on it. This was about 1980 so I am thinking it may have got here through Vietnam or up from the states. It would be an interesting story I am sure.

oddest thing ive seen was a kpv 14.5 mm heavy machine gun. it was in private hands. i offered him 1000 dollars and he just chucked and said no....he just couldent.

Considering the size of their market 32k is not a big deal.. That's only 20 optics.

It was over 60 scopes..I ball parked the price around $400 as I don't know what the price was.
Regardless..it doesn't matter if it's 1 scope or 1000. When the manufacturer takes payment for a product then refuses to respond to questions regarding the delivery of the scopes..they lose all credibility from me and tell me all I need to know about their ethics.
Yes I know they were probably working night and day making optics for the military and yes they have priority..(granted the dealer involved knew there was a wait and didn't advise the purchasers of same)
However it takes less then 5 minutes for someone to reply to an e-mail.
They had no problem taking these peoples money.

pretty tough to defend that one. You have a valid beef.

My point is,it's not the products fault. The product is good. Sure folks mess up at times and too bad they couldn't make it right.
