Very simple QD ar-15 barrel system

Looks kinda cool, I recall watching a video of a quick detach system from a couple years ago but I don't think it ever made it to market. Was made by CMMG. Maybe these guys will find a niche.
 
Probably costs as much as just building another upper.
The AR has always had the best quick change barrel system available. 2 pins, swap upper, start shooting.
 
I'm thinking it would have limited applications: given how long AR's have been around and how easily uppers are swapped out I would think that most people inclined to have more than one AR would have either multiple AR's or multiple uppers.
 
I think you guys are missing the point. Its not necessarily about swapping barrels, its about making the gun a small package.

Why? So we can take it to the range in a smaller case? My truck has lots of room for a rifle case.
Why would we need to carry it in a smaller case? Buy a smaller rifle.
Here is my 6.5 inch, it's pretty darn small and would fit into a backpack without even taking it apart.

I also have a 12 in and a 9.75 inch. I've owned 10.5, 14.5, 16, and 18 inch AR's and none of them were a problem to get into my truck and get to the range.
If they could build a non restricted semi auto black rifle that could break down into a backpack I would be more interested.
 
Nothing wrong with innovation. Why get all bent outta shape about it.

Its less cumbersome to transport. With this system you can break a 16" rifle down into a smaller package than your 6.5.

Not getting bent out of shape at all. Just don't see the point.
Having the gas tube hanging out like that seems to be a point of concern to me, if you bent that tubing your barrel isn't going to be going on or if bent just a little your gas key wouldn't line up right and it would jam.
Impossible that it is shorter than my 6.5 if I separate the upper from the lower which is 2 pins and less than 10 seconds.

Like I said earlier, do that with a non restricted rifle so I can pack it around easily and I'd be all over it.
If we had the same laws as the US and could use an AR away from the range it would be better but the AR is so easy to break down in to a smaller package already. I don't like 16 inch barrels so my 12 inch would be almost as small as that one with the barrel removed.

THIS! It simply amazes me that people spend so much time and effort to build something so unnecessary. Beyond all the engineering issues a QD barrel system generally requires re-zeroing the sights for the new barrel.

My upper for my 6.5 inch is 15 inches overall length with a linear comp, if I put a shorter muzzle device on it I could drop almost an inch off it.
So how is a 16 inch barrel going to be shorter? Which is actually going to be 17-18 inches overall when you consider the barrel extension, the muzzle device and the gas tube hanging out.

I just don't see the point when I can build a new upper with a quality barrel for around $600.
I already have a couple AR's so don't need a new lower. The cost of this new system would be too much for me to consider. If I was buying my first AR it would be more appealing.
