hey rimfire guys. I am in the process right now of trying to fit a green mountain barrel into a basic DAR22 receiver and it is nearly impossible. I've put the barrel into the freezer for ten minutes. also applied heat to the throat of the receiver to aid in the fit. applied a couple drops of gun oil to hopefully help things along. the barrel slid in about a quarter inch, then I tried persuading the fit with a block of hickory and a rubber mallet. went in about another eighth of an inch with some serious pounding using the mallet, with and without the hickory block.
is this a common problem with the Dlask receiver? is a hydraulic press-fitting required to seat the barrel in the receiver? the GM barrel fits well in the stock ruger receiver with little or no serious persuasion, but this Dlask item is a different story. does some minor grinding of the receiver throat need to take place? hoping someone can give some advice. thanks
