Perhaps it has some connection to Thorens Glières' Castle which has some war history of it's own? Or maybe a part or case for a part for a Thorens phonograph of that period?

Just pure speculation on my part but worth looking into.

This little BRASS case(33mmX10mm) was brought back with a German Luger
after the war ! It unscrews in the center and holds a 9mm cartridge just
nicely (or maybe a cyanide pill?) and has FANCY raised lettering that say( "THORENS") on the one end !
Was this one of Hitler's 'presents ' to certain members of his 'group' or ?
Don't know what it is or what it's worth?

In all probability a case for Ex-Lax and Bayer Aspirin for the constipated German Soldier with Gout and VD. Maybe even Crab Powder (Brandname: Crabs Begone)!

I think Goring had a friendly guard smuggle it in for him. The guard did not know it was a cyanide pill though ,it was hidden in something innocuous.

IIRC from his diary H.G. had 3 separate ampules. One he let the guards find at the beginning, one that was hidden in a jar of some type of skin or hair cream. The last one,well, I'm sure the sun was not shining on it to say the least.
