Very Weird Turkey Incounter!?!?!?

Today I was out in the truck with my dad on our way back from the range. I noticed a dead skunk on the road and a BIG bird over top of it... As we got closer I noticed it was a Turkey. And it had Skunk entrails in its mouth.....

Arn't Turkeys herbevors? or is this maybe a very strange and unique Turkey?
I wish I had the camera!

well going back to the course i took on them... they will eat what is available to them... be it road kill... or even the seed,s of a sumac..

It was a turkey vulture. Those things are amazing - apparently, they can smell a dead carcass from 25 km away! I used see dozens of them always hanging around a sheep farm near me - they used to have a feeding bonanza on dead sheep that were killed by coyotes.

Just don't get too close to them - they defend themselves by throwing up all over their attackers!
