I know I know I shouldn't have bought it in the first place but I get good groups and I like it so be gentle.

My Rem 770 *ducks and plugs ears* has suddenly started to vibrate after each shot? All was well the last time I shot it then yesterday I put four shots down range and it vibrated/hummed for at least 10 seconds after each shot.

Any ideas?

Thanks! :)

Check the headspace just to be sure, I may be out to lunch here but IIRC the barrel is pressed, rather than screwed on. A sudden change in sound <may> be an indication that the barrel is creeping out.

Easy to cure. Tie a 2 foot cord to the rifle. Looks for deep water. Very tall grass will sometimes work. Twirl rifle around your head until max rotation achieved and then let go.

Don't look back.

I've seen the barrel on a few rifles vibrate impressively, as in for several seconds following the shots, with clearly visible 1/2"+ amplitude, and they were pretty good accurate rifles too. So there's not necessarily anything problematic with what you're seeing. Although the fact that it didn't used to do it, and now it does, indicates that something has changed.

Why not check to see if the screws that attach the rifle into the stock are snug?

Do you have anything attached to the rifle that might be doing the vibrating, e.g. a scope, or a bipod? Check to see that they are snug too.

I had a 22/250 HB that would do that every time. it was very accurate and I had no problems with it. It was kinda weird to shoot though.

It's funny. In the battle rifle forum and at hungry's clinics everybody is trying to get their rifles to "ping".

That is when the gun is fired or the bolt is slammed home a well put together M14S will ring for seconds after. This indicates the gun is nice and tight and consistant. I've spent a lot of time getting my gun to ping well.

This guy here wants to get rid of his ping.
