I have googled the topic and found:
'It will not work cases will just float on top of media'
And also,
'It works fine, been doing it for XX years'

So, I come to the source I trust, fellow Canadian gun enthusiasts.

What's the case, will the stainless media work alright in a vibrating tumbler?
If not, what would people recommend from a step up from walnut/corncob?

OR, redirection to an existing thread would be great as well.

I don't see how that could possibly work. To fill a dry tumbler, you'll need like 50 pounds of pins, and then nothing would vibrate anymore. I don't think it would destroy tour tumbler or anything, it would just hummmm and the case would sit on top of the pins.

A step up is a wet tumbler with SS pins. Cleans both inside and outside the case, cleans the primer pocket, and nothing gets stuck in your cases or flash holes. Plus no more medias to buy, ever. The filth is then dumped with the water instead of being projected in the ambient air.

Dry tumbling is like wiping your sweat with a towel after a hockey game. Wet tumbling is like taking a shower.

It is nice to see that you are enthusiastically pleased with your choice but to use your analogy it is more like between periods. Do you take a shower at each break or just wipe your face with a towel?

When I clean my brass it is to get it to a point where I can effectively examine to case. I don't need them to be pretty.

There are effective vibratory tumblers that use a wet system but will have ceramic cone, triangular or pyramidal media. These systems more often are used for parts or rocks but could be used for brass if the media was small enough. SS pins in a conventional vibratory tumbler won't give the expected results like a rotary wet tumbler.
