Got out shooting at RFMA in Hanna, AB for a week in July and re-ignited the long range bug. Anybody in and around the Victoria area interested in long range?

Best best is around the north end of lake cowichan. When deer hunting this past fall my buddy and I found a number of places that you could get from 800-1500yd that were clear with safe backstops. I really want to get out further too. Vic fish and game is great but 250yd is getting short

I have found a few spots around the area on the Malahat but a few miles back, another couple near hill 60 in duncan, a couple buddies own 100acres on the nw corner of Lake Cowichan, there are a few spots nearby with safe sight lines and backstops.
The are spots scattered around. Wouldn't mind meeting up with like minded individuals. Got lots of ar400/ ar500 targets and just picked the 2 mile version of Target Vision, haven't had a chance to use it yet. Used the same system three weeks ago on a course -slick unit.

..."thuk"

I've been shooting Port Alberni's big gong at 300 yd. Only trouble is, it's such a thick slab of steel--it must be 3" thick, and so heavy, that it's hard to tell if you hit it or not. 5.56 hits are barely audible; my .308 makes a "thuk" sound...but the thing never moves, so I don't find it all that satisfying (no CLANG! no jumping...).
I'm told Campbell River has an official 600 yd, but I've not tried it yet.
One of my gunbuddies has been working at developing a 1,000 yd shot between two mountains near Alberni, but IDK how that's coming along, as he's been away all summer.
I'm living just north of Nanaimo.
