Video Games and Guns

Never seen a gun in a movie and then wanted it?

Don't know what you're talking about!

My wife works at a local shop. She told me that the other day a young guy came in and bought a .45 auto because it was used on a video game that he plays!!! Kinda gets me a little worried.

Hey ask your wife if she can get me this:

If she needs a deposit, shoot me the price with shipping via PM.

Thanks!

bf3 rocks i got almost every gun unlocked my son and i play all the time. lots of weekend mornings we game out for a bit then head to the range for some real life fun.

Lately I wonder how many "new" members are just here to start crap and actually have no true interest in fire arms...Really?, all this forum needs is more paranoid anti action good greif.. :/

Its the fact that these video game users shoot other players in a first person game, and it starts to overwhelm their lives completely. Maybe if he was playing a deer hunting game and bought the gun used it would be different, but seeing someone boast their "kill death ratio" and then go buy the pistol they used to electronically slaughter people does leave me fairly weary. I agree with the original poster.

Knitting may be a good hobby to consider if you are genuinely worried.

I have been playing video games as long as I can remember. I have all kinds of guns from revolvers to (heaven-forbid) semiautomatic rifles with red dots and collapsible stocks. I definitely like revolvers because of movies, I like 1911's because they're ###y, scopes because they're accurate, and using them in video games is what got me interested in red dots. 'Hey, this optic obscures my vision less, and target aquisition always seems easier'.

'Its the fact that these video game users shoot other players in a first person game, and it starts to overwhelm their lives completely.'? You obviously have a good grasp of the way the vast majority of people play video games.

If I thought like you, I'd be terrified, video game users are everywhere. I better change my diapers.

I'm sorry but that's completely ridiculous. Almost every gun I own was bought due to some media influence. Believe it or not, even young adults know the difference between video games and reality. I'm 42 and I own plenty of guns. I grew up in the arcade and play video games to this day. I've bought guns because I liked them in video games. I don't hunt-I shoot. I HAVE NEVER SHOT ANYONE. What do you mean by "overwhelming their lives"? I've never heard of Call of Duty being responsible for anyone's death. Strange that the OP's first post was ridiculous, fear-mongering, bs. Y'know there are many popular driving/racing video games that award you extra points for spectacular crashes. Should we stop selling cars to people who play video games? Reality is calling...you should answer.

Video games get talked down just like guns get talked down by social engineering fans. The same proponents of banning video games ignore statistics and just like to gabble on and on about how impressionable people are. The fact is, people have always gone bonkers and if they weren't playing video games they were reading the Bible upside down or listening to rock & roll backwards yet the vast majority of people enjoy their media just fine and go home to stroke their cats and mow their lawns.

Let me guess, you think spoons make people fat and cars make people drive over the speed limit right?

Video games don't make people violent. Guns don't make people violent. Therefore if you put the two together, guess what, people still aren't violent.

i had my "gun bug" rekindled playing cod with my kids, i went and did my rpal, now i have taught my kids how to properly and safely handle firearms.
when i was a kid i was alowed to pack a .22 or a 30-30 anywhere i wanted, unsupervised(after passing my dads gun instruction), i NEVER abused the privilage. i used to read srgt rock, and play with toy plastic soldiers too, never wanted to shoot anyone for real....when i was older i played paintball, i still havent shot anyone with a firearm.
i think cod and simular games are adding new blood to the shooting sports, something we need to do if we want to change the image of shooters all being gun totin hillbillys or gang bangers.

I thought this was going to be about the use of guns in video games. For example my step son and this thing called "quick scoping"... and other things with which those who don't know much about guns try to make it sound like they do because they shoot them in video games.

In regard to "quick scoping" a trip to the range with a scoped .22 will put that myth to rest pretty quickly.
