Hard to believe the military resisted the introduction of Stoner's design so fiercely. I would find it hard to believe that the rifles had sights chopped off replaced with metal rods prior to testing if someone else had told me. Incredible.

You might be missing things called "codecs" whatever those are.
I saw it too. I was very curious to find out why they replaced the M1's with that plastic toy. It turns out the chinese were attacking in waves during the Korean war and they needed medium-powered, fully automatic weapons to mow them down in time.
I knew that they claimed the M16 didn't need maintenance during the start of Vietnam but that wasn't by far the only problem. Apparently the computer nerds who comissioned the gun didn't have a clue what they were doing. Most of the troops had no training on it, which made things even more difficult.
Pretty good show. I suggest you watch "Modern Marvels: US guns of WWII" and there's one about Panzers and another on WWI technology.

You definitely need to update your video codecs. If you don't want to download another player and prefer to watch movies in Windows Media Player, then I suggest one of the following:
- Get the latest version of Media Player.

After watching I have to disagree with a few points made in the show. I do not agree that the m16 is the most powerful assault rifle ever. I disagree with the man who said the only countires who use the AK are those who can't afford the M16 (its a 55 to 15 ratio in the favour of the AK).
