Video of rifle burst tests: barrel obstruction.

Very interesting video. Some of those look like a sore shoulder would be the worst injury you would suffer. The first rifle and the Remington 700 look like you would lose your left hand!

Although the specific conditions of the test are not disclosed, that is still enough to get you thinking twice about a remmy or browning. Yikes!

I've seen this before and it tells you nothing about action strength...Barrel strength maybe.
There are many variables in an obstruction accident and pressures vary as a result.

If you think Remington barrels are any different from the rest you are deceived.

A complete barrel obstruction will blow any barrel...I have seen 2 stainless match grade barrels blow just that way.

This has nothing to do with the action.

I have always like most of the European manufacturers for their quality and finish, but this settles it! ;)

Don't worry, I'm keeping my Ford. :D

The only different action type is the Blaser, all the rest are regular bolts. But that's not the point. The point is an overall obstruction test and how a brand does during a catastrophic failure. It says a lot about who's gun youde rather be holding....

I suspect in the end a lot has to do with metal quality. Higher end knives use better steel. Same goes for guns. A gunsmith made a comment to me that you can tell the higher end rifles as they are harder on the tools used to fix them.

P.O. Ackly did tests much like this after WWII with several military rifle actions including the M-17, 1903 Springfield, Mauser 98 and the Jap Arasaka. While he was able to blow up actions, the Arasaka action held together and blew the barrel completly off the action, stripping the threads completly off the barrel!!

there was no indication of barrel wall thickness , cailber , or a full veiw of the rifle .

how many rifles blew the end of the barrel out like a banna peel ?

also how where they obstructed , and what was used ?

but the bigger point here , KEEP YOUR BARREL CLEAN , and check it before firing .
