But what he failed to say was the the U.S. government passed the Export Control Act in July 1940, which cut off exports of all oil, iron, and steel to Japan.
I would certainly call that "Rising Tension" !
This was followed by a more comprehensive embargo on oil and gasoline exports to Japan, which was established on August 1, 1941, after Japan occupied key airfields in French Indochina. Japan relied on the US for over 80% of its oil imports, and the U.S. had previously been Japan's primary source of iron and copper.
Pearl Harbor didn't happen til Dec 1941.
Although the vid gives details on military action, it failed to tell the truth why they attacked in the first place.
