VERY nice photos (quality)...... why use a bolt action for that kinda shoot?

I am one of the people that the government has allowed to keep a certain Swiss made rifle... for now. As I couldn't bring it to the match this time, and not having an AR, I would have had to use something sub-optimal. So I decided to "keep it Swiss" and bring nothing BUT Swiss guns. It was fun, I scored OK for what I was using, and learned some things about using a bolt gun in that kind of shooting situation. I would do it again, but it would never be for serious competition.

Haha! Alles bereit zum gefecht! Wo kommen den deutsche Soldaten?

OP, turn the cell phone so it's horizontal so you get full screen and not that narrow vertical video. :p

Great pics! Looks like fun was had by all.

Have you received something in the mail indicating it is now prohib. and you can no longer take it to the range with your ATT? 'Cause I haven't...

Go to that thread about the SA and Cz. Do not take your SA or Cz out of your homes. You wont get charged, but the RCMP are salivating at the chance to confiscate your gun, and they will.

Hmmm....my understanding is they would need to notify one of the change from restricted (in my case with a carbine) to prohibited before it was in effect - I guess, based on all accounts so far - that assumption is at worst, flat out wrong and at best, a gamble.
$!&cking firearms act....

Yeah its a cluster for sure. My understanding is that while you cannot be charged for having it, there is nothing stopping them from pulling it on the spot. With that said you'd figure they would make some kind of official statement stating that these rifles are no longer restricted-non restricted. Pretty hard for folks to know what's going on if they aren't on the net.

It is typical of the history of firearms laws and regulations. A decision is made somewhere and they tell someone about it, but it is your fault if you didn't know about it when Johnny Law shows up to give you the latex glove.

I would advise anyone who owns one to contact the NFA for clarification on the current legal status and its ramifications.

From what I see in the video, this is mostly open-range shooting, is there any more "indoor" focused CQB drills ? kinda like (starting 1:00):

It'd be a good legal question: Does the Amnesty apply to those who are found shooting Swiss Arms/Vz 58 rifles at a range? It should, but I don't believe it does, as others have previously stated.

Lecture of the Day:
Regardless, if I see a guy with one of these rifles at the range--I wouldn't do/say anything. And I would diplomatically and politely encourage others not to take any action either. The time for civil disobedience and passive resistance is long overdue....

Some years ago, I recall a guy showing up with a restricted item at a firearms clinic (that wasn't authorized for restricteds). No one said a thing, everything went well, no firearms got away by themselves to cause mayhem.

Yup, me too. I wouldn't say or do anything at all. Actually last year while at the range in Port Alberni, a guy and girl showed up with a FAL. They had no clue they weren't allowed to shoot it. I said I could care less what they did, but to be carefull about it's public display of awesomeness. So... He put it in the car and pulled out an FNAR. Talk about weird laws!

The amnesty only stops you from being charged. If a cop finds you with one of these you will very likely permanently lose it. Willing to take that chance? Not me when a solution is forthcoming and we will get to keep and use our firearms, as it says in the amnesty.
