Coming soon to the EE.........'Vietnamese capture, M1 Garand'.
Interesting video. I guess the South couldn't be bothered to destroy the weapons prior to them being captured. Spoils of war.
the politicians stretched out that war as long as they could. a lot of people made a ton of money off that war.
About 25 years ago, some M-1 Garands, Colt 1911 pistols and Winchester M97 shotguns were imported from Vietnam. They were pretty rough and pitted as I remember.

New Zealand bought a boat load of American Military equipment from Vietnam in the late 1970's
The US Navy thought about seizing it, but couldn't, because the ship was under the New Zealand Flag
The New Zealand Military was also in control of the ship

It is sad that the US abandoned more equipment in Viet Nam than the Canadian military ever had. Could have just let us have it and we would still be using all of it.
I have American friends that staunchly maintain the US won the the Viet Nam war.
My response: "If that was a victory, I'd hate to see what you'd call a defeat."
The Brits have a history of losing battles but winning wars, turning stunning defeats into heroic victories. No way a spin could turn the VNW into a "victory".
