Vietnam style M16

Not to worry. SP1 shows up from time to time. You just have to check EE often.

here is a real deal colt m16A1 upper

markings put it at 1967-68 chrome chamber but not chrome bore 1/12 twist tear drop forward assist

mmmmmsteak, the sp1 would have needed a 3 prong flash suppresor and a non trap door butt stock. that would make it the first type m16. no gaurds around the mag release, no forward assist. m16a1- forward assist, trap door butt stock (shorter and a wee bit differant then the a2 butt stock), bird cage flash suppresor (remember, only a2's have parcial seration and solid bottom, a1's are serrated all around), gaurds around mag release.. norinco cq311 after hardwear change would be a m16a1 clone and your cheapest route. also remember in vietnam 30 round mags were not the norm, straight bodied 20 round mags were. hope this helps, i'm trying the same. starting with a cq311, have all the hard wear coming, just waiting to recieve and put all of it togeather.
btw- contact, why put up the ####. lol
forgot also vietnam rifles were 1:12 55 grain. nato round and twist rate didn't appear until much later.

I used to own the genuine article. I had to replace the handguards on it as it looked like part of the original user's fingers were still attached to it.

If anyone knows where I can get an A1 buttstock in exc. condition, let me know because I'm after one.

I would like to make it like one of the original issue ones with the 3 pronged flash hider. But wouldn't it be pretty difficult to find an upper that doesn't have a forward assist and spent case deflector? :p

What do you mean by "original"? Issued to whom? Which 3-prong flash hider?

Models 601, 602, M16, XM16E1, M16A1, GAU-5/A/A,, GUU-5P, COMMANDO, XM177E1 AND XM177E2 were all original and official issue at some time, to US personnel. To most people, these just look like "M16 rifle" and "M16 carbine", but they are different. Additionally, the models evolved over time, and an M16A1 issued during operation Rolling Thunder is not the same as an M16A1 used at Khe Sahn.

i have all the vietnam real issue butstock pistol grip and hand guards. been sitting in my lock up for 15 years. pm me for pics. i will put it up in the for sale area soon.
