Has anyone out there used vihtavuori n540 with a 225 gr accubond in a 338-06. How did you like it? What kind of accuracy/velocites were you getting?

Thanks

In the Hornady 6th edition I see they recommend VIHT N-150 powder for all bullet weights but no mention of your powder..IMR 4320 is a standard......Harold

N540 would be a suitable choice for that bullet, but you might not find published load data for it.

We know that the Burn Rate of N540 is between IMR4007SSC and H414, so a Start Load in the 51.0-56.0 gr range and a Max Load in the 56.0-60.0 gr range would be indicated.

You can confidently load it in the low end of that (51.0-56.0 grs), and probably higher, but if you are determined to use N540, I'd recommend buying IMR4007SSC and H414 and doing some comparative tests over a chronograph before going higher. Short of having pressure-testing equipment, that process is the best way to estimate your pressure.
